Cadenza Repower After installation of her bulbous bow Cadenza returned to us for complete replacement of her engines and drive train. She was originally fitted with a unique diesel electric system that, though intriguing on paper, had proved problematical in practice. So the owner wanted to replace the experimental system with conventional diesel power. TBM is often chosen to repower yachts and it’s usually an extensive but straightforward task. Cadenza posed some unique challenges in that the engine stringers, bottom framing and shaft layouts would be entirely different. We basically gutted and rebuilt the entire engine room. The reconstruction required extensive composite, electrical, mechanical and plumbing work with the skipper working alongside us the entire time to make sure he got the desired engine room layout and function. During the project we also made extensive alterations to her exterior deck and cockpit. |
